Saturday 21st February
Matthew 9:10-13 (NIV)
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
God's Holy word for us today - Amen
Questions to Ponder
Despite all our good intentions, we will always fail at some point – because we are human.
Praise God that Jesus came for us sinners – to redeem us and to give us his Holy Spirit.
Do you find yourself moaning or judging others? How different is that to the pharisees?
Do you find yourself overly critical of other people? Why?
Prayer
My God, may I always be aware of you in my everyday life. Teach me how to have a closer walk with you and help me this Lent to draw near to you,
listen to your word to me and act upon it. Amen.
